"(2020 vintage) The domaine has 5ha in the Hautes Côtes village of Arcenant, lieu-dit Derrière le Bois de Chevrey, where the family had a long-standing attachment and patriarch Jean Gros loved to hunt. Fermented in stainless steel and wood fermenters to yield this delicious wine that is pleasantly perfumed but light and fresh, if lacking somewhat in concentration."

"(2020 vintage) A dense nose with iron, ferrous notes, dark cherry and kirsch. The palate is supremely knit together, woven with fine supple silky tannins, fresh acidity and a brooding dark cherry infused palate. Cola and dark fruits on the long textured dense finish. Masterful entry level Burgundy form one of the superstars."

Tasting Notes

There has been a sorting table at the family winery since 2008, after which the grapes are destemmed but not crushed. The grapes are given a short cool maceration, then fermented with more pumping over than punching down, with the juice being concentrated by a similar machine to that used by Michel and Bernard Gros, if necessary. This wine is matured in large format (5000L) French oak to add oxygen but not oaky flavours.

These vines are in a higher altitude location in the Hautes Côtes above Nuits St Georges. It is a naturally cooler site. Very bright, energetic red cherry fruit flavours, an exciting purity, good tannic grip with a lovely bite and lift on the finish.
