"For the first time Les Loachausses on its own. A medium ruby purple. The nose is very engaging, strawberry and raspberry. While the same fruit continuing on the palate could be just a little simple, there is enough grip to make this not the case, and the return of the whole bunch feel, adds structure as well as lifting the finish. A fractional coffee note at the very end complexifies the long finish. Drink from 2031-2038. Tasted Oct 2024."

Tasting Notes

Complex aromas of blackberry, mulberry, and black cherry with a charming floral overtone. Muscular and unyielding with firm, prominent tannins create the backbone of the wine, yet somehow there’s an element of grace and purity about this Échezeaux too. A multilayered hedgerow fruit core interlocks with savoury and toasted oak spice on the fine, focused finish. A blockbuster.

Produced from vines with an average age of 90-year-old. Sections of the vineyards are currently being replanted, and therefore only 0.45-hectares are in production.

The name Gros is one of the most famous in the Côte de Nuits, synonymous with great Vosne Romaneé. The original Gros domaine is now divided amongst four family members. Anne-Françoise, daughter of Jean Gros, married into another great Burgundy dynasty, the Parent family of Pommard. In 1998 François Parent and Anne Françoise combined their domaines to create a superb 10 hectare property comprising some of the finest terroirs in the Côte d’Or. Today their children Caroline and Mathias run the estate, with Mathias ever experimenting and pushing boundaries in both vineyard and cellar.
