Tasting Notes
Etienne Sauzet, located in the village of Puligny-Montrachet, is arguably one of Puligny’s finest domaines. Established in the 1920s, the domaine is now in its fourth generation, with Etienne Sauzet’s great great granddaughter Emilie and Benoît Riffault, her winemaker husband, running the domaine. The portion of new oak in the cellar has been reduced in recent years to allow the elegance of the fruit to shine through. Benoît’s immaculate winemaking clearly stands out in his wines, which are all about minerality, precision and exceptional length.
The Sauzet Jardin du Calvaire Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune has an attractive nose with apple blossom aromas, aromas of melon and sweet stone fruits mixed with fresh herbs. The taste is well balanced with light spice, orange peel opening, quite spicy on the palate with good energy. The wine is a medium to full fleshy wine with lively acidity and a salty aftertaste.
