Tasting Notes
The red wines harvested in the center and south side of the Beaune territory are tannic and powerful; their color is generally dark, and their aromas are both animal and fruity (berries). Harvested in the north, the wines have a less intense color and are beautifully supple. The Grèves wine is, for many tasters, the great Beaune wine par excellence. The name of this climate comes from the clever mixture of ocher earth and small pebbles (gravel) that the soil contains. A fine and distinguished wine, it develops intense notes of blackcurrant combined with finely spicy touches. Much more powerful, the Marconnets and Clos du Roi climats produce wines suitable for long storage. The Bressandes, Cent-Vignes and Fèves are fine and balanced. Finally, the Cras, coming from stony soil, are fleshy and powerful.
