97 / 100"This impressive wine is densely packed with substance but slightly closed initially, but flavours of cassis and mulberry with hints of earth and smoke open up on the palate. The silky texture bodes well for the hedonistic heft on the palate. The grapes come from three-quarters of a hectare in a parcel that runs the length of the climat between Trapet Père et Fils and Faiveley. The grapes are mainly fermented as whole clusters and gently extracted before ageing in casks with a moderate proportion of new wood."

"Attractive light to mid purple. There is some opulence from ripe fruit on the nose. Starts well on the palate and really builds, with a lovely freshness to what is evidently entirely ripe fruit. Never more than medium bodied yet with intensity, especially at the back of the palate. Almost cerebral and very persistent. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted: December 2023."

Tasting Notes
Brothers David and Nicolas Rossignol run this 100% Organic and Biodynamically farmed Domaine located in the very heart of Gevrey Chambertin. Very early to the Sustainable farming movement, all the family's vineyards, located in some of the most impressive vineyards in Burgundy, were converted to Certified Organic in 2004.
'Latricières' has long been a personal favorite vineyard, a perennial source of reds at the apotheosis of sheer hedonistic pleasure. Among the constellation of Gevrey Grands Crus, 'Latricières' remains relatively easy to identify: it is more substantial and centered than 'Ruchottes' or 'Griottes,' and more joyful and exuberant - particularly in its youth - that its northern neighbors 'Chambertin' and 'Clos de Bèze.' Unmissably, the vineyard possesses personality to the point of singularity, retaining the ability to strongly individuate from even its closest neighboring vineyards.
Rossignol-Trapet lays claim to one of the most representative bottlings of this vinous personality, a reality that begins with a gorgeously sited top-to-bottom parcel directly in the middle of the vineyard. The domaine has moved increasingly toward whole-cluster vinification, partly to stem the tide (!) of warmer vintages, and partly for the pragmatic reason that old vines and biodynamic viticulture routinely result in healthy bunches with ripe stems.
