"Medium to deep purple/red colour; youthful and fresh with intensity and fineness of texture. Soft, graceful, finely-textured; a lovely wine with terrific persistence. 05 SEP 2017"

"Felton Road's most expensive pinot noir is a supremely elegant wine layers of coffee, violet, fresh herb, dark cherry and mixed spice flavours. It's long and linear, with a fine and slightly peppery texture. Can be enjoyed now but will deliver much more in time. 17 JUL 2017"

"One of the benchmarks of New Zealand wine, always makes for interesting tasting, and from 2016 a lighter expression of the often abundant wine that appears from Block 3 of the Felton Road estate. Of course, biodynamic farming is the baseline and the winemaking is considered but ‘au naturale‘. Juicy, bright pinot noir of good inward concentration with powerful cherry-berry fruit characters, layering of cedar and spice, a velvety feel with slight grit and chew to close and a fullness throughout. Quite a bit of impact here but does hold a softer, looser knit profile than expected. It’s a strong showing and a wine of good impact, with drinkability on its side. Block 3 fanciers will be rewarded."

"Bannockburn. 25% whole bunch, 40% new oak. Lightish crimson. Much prettier than the 2015 with a floral note alongside lots of red fruit. Scented on the palate too, the tannins seem more subtle and perfectly frame the fruit. Super-fine texture and very persistent. - Julia Harding MW"

Tasting Notes

Felton Road is a premium wine producer stablished in 1991, the estate owns 32 ha of vineyards in the Bannockburn sub-region. They prioritise minimal intervention in both the vineyard and the winery, resulting in wines of unparalleled purity and complexity.

"A deep, meaty nose of dark fruit, complexing hints of humus and dark rose. The palate is surprisingly more opulent than the colour might suggest. A rich entry of wild bramble that leads to an enticing chalkiness. Riding along the bottom of the palate is a seam of impressive richness: chocolate; mocha; dense with a chewy, herbal complexity. Sophisticated, sensual and unmistakably Block 3." - Felton Road
