"A distinctly aromatic note of elderberry and tart, crushed mulberry hovers above the red-fruited nose. The palate carries the same intensity of tart, snappy fruit which then starts melting into exquisitely velvety depth. There are dense but ripe tannins that feel like a caress, but it is the aromatic purity, elegance and liftedness that stands out above all. This is the new Central Otago."

"The 2020 Block 3 Pinot Noir is a lovely, mineral expression of this vintage. It is wonderfully balanced, showing red-fruited nuance and tannic detail in the mouth that has allowed this note so far, from just one sip. Gently grippy and yet flowing and silky at once, I like this so much—the cooling acidity (I have referenced this several times in the tasting today) is just such an attractive counterpoint to the fruit. It helps to define these wines and has a mineral feel. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap."

Tasting Notes

Felton Road rank among the top 3 New Zealand producers, and in all honesty are usually number 1. In fact, they deserve a spot among the top New World producers, and this was proven when they were given the #12 spot in Wine Spectator Magazine's 2018 Top 100 Wines issue- an incredible achievement.

The reason for the world-class quality of their wines is a mix of their unique 'terroir', but also because they are one of the leading names in sustainable, low intervention and biodynamic viticulture and winemaking.
