93 / 100"The 2021 Barossa vintage is a bit of a banger, with the best wines showing excellent colour and length of flavour. The blend here is 60/40% shiraz/cabernet sauvignon matured in French oak (8% new) for 18 months. Deep magenta-splashed crimson in the glass with deep yet crunchy dark plum, blueberry and blackberry fruits cut with hints of baking spices, dark chocolate, sage, licorice, violets, a whiff of lemon zest and deep, earthy notes. Ditto on the palate, which shows some nice freshness and verve, excellent fruit density and tannin ripeness and a plush, enchanting finish."

The Smithy 2021 vintage boasts lifted aromas of violets, blackcurrants and blueberry fruits. The palate shows beautiful freshness with layers of blackcurrant and boysenberry fruit intertwined with hints of choc mint and blood plums. The finish is focused and dark, finishing with long and rolling grainy tannin.
Gibson The Smithy Shiraz Cabernet is a classic Barossa red wine blend that can be enjoyed at any time of the year. It pairs particularly well with slow cooked la
