97 / 100"Intense, fresh, preserved lemon aroma, the palate is light but intense, even shrill, with again intense lemon juice and lightly-toasted almond notes. The palate is lean, taut and fine, and is attractive drinking although it is still a baby. It has a very clean, refreshing, almost nervy finish. The wine has extraordinary intensity and promises to reward cellaring. A great chardonnay."

"Estate-grown, planted '82 with clone I10V1 (and others of unknown origin), fermented in French barriques (40% new) with partial mlf, 10 months in barrel. Chardonnay is putty in the hands of a master such as Jeffrey Grosset, everything in precise proportion and in its due place; white peach, a slice of green apple, a twist of grapefruit juice, and an airbrush of grilled cashew and cream, and you're there."

"It’s simply called Grosset Piccadilly nowadays but for ease of recognition – not to mention search function – I’m sticking with Chardonnay as part of the wine name. 350 dozen made. It’s a song to the variety. It cruises along with sweet pear and apple-like fruits, stone fruits and spice humming away in the background. There’s plenty of flavour to hang onto, shall we say. And yet it’s not overblown (in any remote way) and both acidity and (custardy/nutty) oak are masterfully well managed. In short, it’s delicious"

Tasting Notes
With the Piccadilly Valley vineyard qualifying as one of the coolest spots in the Adelaide Hills, here a warmer season can be a positive, adding weight to a wine that remains fine and elegant. Grosset has once again made the most of both site and season.
Delicately perfumed, in fact quite restrained on the nose, intense, persistent and tight in the mid-palate, with bright lively acidity. Concentrated grapefruit flavours, a hint of minerally savouriness, seamlessly integrated oak, underlying power and a crisp, clean finish.
