96 / 100"Bright straw-green; the bouquet is perfumed and complex, with citrus blossom and a subliminal touch of honeysuckle, the palate flowing on logically and serenely, the balance and aftertaste perfect. The Grosset Watervale is more generous and obviously powerful."

"This is the 30th riesling released under the Grosset Polish Hill label; it hasn’t always been grown on the same vineyard but the style and sub-regionality has been consistent. The 2010 vintage was, I believe, the earliest vintage in Grosset Polish Hill history. I opened it beside a bottle of Pikes The Merle Riesling 2010 (from the Polish Hill River sub-region); an interesting exercise. It’s scented (lime leaves) and cidery with a textural richness – and then a jagging, cutting power through the finish. I wouldn’t necessarily call this release ‘minerally’ (it’s more lime-spice) but its dry, decisive drive of refined flavour as it leaves your mouth is a clear stamp of class. It’s approachable though; you could drink this as a youngster and get a thrilling, young Australian riesling experience. Length."

"Greenish straw. Lots of texture and grip. Minerally. Lots to chew on and very long. Cooking-apple flavours."

Tasting Notes
Jeffrey Grosset is regarded as one of Australia's best Riesling Winemakers. The Polish Hill Riesling is his most famous wine.
"This is a more typical ‘Polish Hill’ than the exuberant 2009: shy, reserved and closed. The 2010 Grosset Polish Hill Riesling has restrained aromatics, a hint of lime blossom, some pebbly, wet stone fragrance, powerful mouth-puckeringly dry and pristine lime flavours that are deep, powerful and tightly coiled with savoury, slatey minerality. The finish is pure Grosset: flinty, achingly dry, memorable." - Grosset
