98 / 100"Part of the vineyard was planted in the '60s with cuttings from Mount Edelstone Vineyard, the remainder planted in the '90s, destemmed, 6 days on skins, matured for 2 years in French puncheons (5% new). A very, very distinguished Eden Valley shiraz; the intense black fruits/licorice/spice fruit has absorbed the French oak and largely dismissed the tannins, the latter providing a distant drum beat on the exceptionally long finish and aftertaste."

Tasting Notes
Totally opaque inky black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. Pronounced dark plum and liquorice aromas are followed by dark chocolate and vanillin oak with a hint of spice as an end note. Lavishly textured, rich and opulent the palate boasts mouthfilling flavours of dark plum, ripe blackberry and liquorice over some lightly smoked vanillin oak, subtle dark chocolate and spice. Velvetly tannins and low acidity. Excellent power with a long aftertaste of ripe dark plum, liquorice, vanillin oak, subtle dark chocolate and spice.
