96 / 100"Bottle sample. While there’s no Cariñena from 2020 because of the mildew in the year, the Garnacha came through successfully. On the nose it offers classic Garnacha aromas of red berries. In the mouth the pure, ripe Garnacha fruit shines, overlaid with spices. The texture is very fine with a lovely freshness; a long finish. Simply needs time now to develop further before release. The change to used barrels to soften tannin and work on mouthfeel is obvious in this vintage. Release date January 2023."

"Light red berry fruits with a wild forest quality to them, very light forest floor note developing, white pepper, dried citric peel, and a good deal of red licorice spice. Quite lifted and fresh on the palate, clean, linear acidity to it giving great length to the wine overall."

"A perfumed, heady and showy pure Garnacha, the 2020 1903 Coma de Cases is a viña clasificada, the official category for exceptional single vineyards from Priorat. It comes from very old vines on a steep coster slope on llicorella slate soils very close to Poboleda. The mildew from 2020 resulted in losses of 40% to 80% of the grapes, so the juice was concentrated and ripe, as the end of the season was warm. The hand-destemmed grapes fermented in open-top 400-liter oak barrels with three weeks of maceration. After pressing, the wine was put in second-use barriques where it matured for 12 months. It has a complex nose of cherries in liqueur, cotton candy, Garnacha, iodine, iron and soy sauce. It's fine-boned, with very elegant tannins, a juicy and decadent mouthfeel, 14.5% alcohol and very good freshness and acidity. It was bottled in August 2022."
