Scores

96 / 100

"Splendidly complex and sensually appealing, the wine shows dark plum, rich floral, dried mushroom and toasted nut aromas. The palate is equally satisfying with outstanding weight and generously textured mouthfeel, finishing superbly long and expansive. The wine offers layers of complex, delectable flavours, making it hugely appealing."
- Sam Kim

95 / 100

"Intense pinot noir with cassis, blackberry, black cherry, spicy oak, dark chocolate and ripe plum flavours. Bold wine with appealing purity and nicely layered flavours that linger long after the wine has been swallowed. Accessible now but should age well"

Tasting Notes

Awarded Super Classic Status. - Michael Cooper's Buyer’s Guide, NZ

"The flight of Pegasus Bay Pinot Noirs continued to illustrate their burgundy influence, the reds often reminiscent of Morey-saint-Denis". - Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, USA

"Felton Road, along with Pegasus Bay has been my favourite pinot producer in New Zealand for years." - Steve Tanzer, International Wine Cellar, USA

Bright ruby in colour. There is a teasing array of vibrant red fruit on the nose including raspberry, pomegranate, cherry and plum. Spice and herbal notes, as well as a savoury underlay, add to the wine’s complexity. While the palate has generous fruit weight and velvety tannins, it is balanced with refreshing acidity and a structure that gives the wine classic North Canterbury tension and pinosity.
