Scores

97 / 100

"This is gracefully opulent and complex, showing dark and purple fruit richness, spicy oak, dark chocolate and warm spice aromas, leading to a concentrated palate displaying terrific weight and fleshy texture. Multi-layered and seamless, finishing impressively long and velvety."

96 / 100

"This is elite stuff. Opaque maroon, it oozes delicious black cherries, mocha notes, cocoa powder, plums, cloves, black fruits and chocolate. Well crafted, this offers excellent length. Tight and yet expressive; focused and yet generous. The tannins are very fine but seem endless with good balance throughout. This is a big, rich, ripe chocolate bomb and is seriously lovely with a decade to fifteen years ahead of it."

Tasting Notes

Bec's great-great-great grandfather, Thomas Hardy, was born in 1830 of yeoman farmer stock farmers who owned and farmed their own land. Six generations on, Bec and her family are still of yeoman descent, cultivating grapes at the family-owned and sustainably managed vineyards. With a modern twist on 170 years of winemaking history, this wine pays homage to Thomas Hardy's original yeoman stock.

The nose offers dense and complex notes of dark plums, cherries, mulberries, and liquorice with spicy notes of black pepper and cloves. The palate is concentrated and smooth with layers of rich black fruits, liquorice, chocolate and spices, followed by plush tannins and an elegant, long finish.
