95 / 100"San Cristoforo is a complex hill within Neive village. Pietro Rinaldi manages a southeast facing vineyard here - his boutique winery is focused on traditional winemaking with controlled temperature of fermentation to avoid excess heat and long ageing in big oak vessels. Sweet and dense floral aromas are joined by scents of yellow stone fruit and balsamic depth. The umami palate is almost salty, crunchy and silky with super-refreshing acidity that's almost zesty. A perky wine loaded with rhubarb savouriness and a chocolatey finish, chiselled yet full of personality."

Tasting Notes
Generally considered more delicate than the vigourous Barolo, this Barbaresco proposed by Pietro Rinaldi is produced with grapes from a single vineyard located in the municipality of Neive called San Cristoforo. It is an additional geographical mention that identifies a cru of particular value. The processing is typical for the area and ends with a long ageing in large Slavonian oak casks of 25 hectolitres. It takes a minimum of 16/18 months to reach the right maturity. After all, this is a wine with great longevity, capable of maturing in the bottle for decades. Intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections, San Cristoforo recalls notes of flowers such as rose and violet, then balsamic and mineral sensations. In the mouth it is still fresh, with soft tannins and great elegance. When it is in season, this is the right wine to bring out the best in a very elegant white Alba truffle. A true marriage of love.
