96 / 100"Gorgeously expressed and enticing, the wine shows blackberry, vanillin oak, warm spice and milk chocolate characters on the nose, leading to a mouthfilling palate offering plush texture backed by layers of fine-grained tannins, making it delectably appealing. At its best: now to 2035. $180.00."

"Perfumed aromatics strike from the outset with an engaging mix of chocolate, dark plum and blackberry. The palate is perfectly pulled together with a combination of American and French oak working harmoniously and the firmish tannins adding support. A final lick of subtle raspberry confection completes a wine of great flair."

"Cracking Barossa Shiraz, this shows why the style is such a crowd pleaser. The wine enjoyed maturation in both American and French oak. Savoury and earthy, the colour is a dark garnet with notes of dried herbs, soy, blackcurrants, aniseed, chocolate and coffee beans. Plenty of oak but the balance with the fruit is immaculate. The palate sees notes of blackberries, chocolate, mocha, licorice, cassis and vanilla. Fine, cushiony tannins and really impressive length, there is a lovely succulence to this wine. Eight to ten years easy, longer if you want."

Tasting Notes
Inspired by its founder Hermann Thumm, who first started crafting Barossa Valley Wines in 1947 and was one of the regions first boutique winemakers. Thumm pushed the boundaries of Australian winemaking through his appetite for experimentation with wine techniques, styles and blends.
