Tasting Notes
The Small Island Wines are making plenty of noise with only a small range.
Complex, rounded and very smooth, everything you could want from a Pinot Noir.
The Black Label is quintessential Tasmanian pinot noir with hints of cassis, dark cherries, cured meat and a dash of oak, this wine has a lot going on. Perfect for any dinner party or a special night in.
The 2023 Black Label Pinot Noir is a perfect blend of upper Derwent, Saltwater River and Tamar fruit. The wine shows great structure and subtle tannins. A cooler year helped to maintain amazing acidity while allowing fruit complexity to develop. The long growing season has really added wonderful character to this classic Tasmanian wine. Scores
93 / 100"The nose here is all about crushed stone, cherry clafoutis and wild strawberries with some nice, mysterious gamey undertones. I like this wine's stony demeanour, all airy with twiggy notes, spice, gentle red berry, raspberry and redcurrant fruit tone and just the right amount of funk in its trunk. I reckon a big 'ol plate of charcuterie, some washed-rind cheese and this and you'll be in a happy place."
