91 / 100"The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Croix des Champs is more than 55% whole cluster. That stem addition comes across a little strongly on the nose and occludes the terroir profile. The medium-bodied palate offers firm tannins, plenty of red berry fruit laced with orange peel and slathers of marmalade, and a grippy finish with a light cola note on the aftertaste. Fine."

Tasting Notes
Harvesting is manual and the grapes are fully destalked because this limestone terroir alone is enough to bring mineral freshness to the wine.
New in 2020, made from purchased grapes on the Brochon side, a light covering of fine clay on limestone scree. No whole bunch in this first vintage. Dark purple with some power. Weighty dark fruit. Dark strawberry with prominent acidity to finish, not quite in balance for me today as there is a light volatility which may well be cleaned up later.
