95 / 100"A tiny parcel from a vineyard on the urban edge of the Adelaide CBD. Destemmed into a single 5t open fermenter, 10 days on skins, pressed to French puncheons (20% new). A no holds barred full-bodied wine, not yet ready, but promises much through its balance and tapestry of ripe fruit flavours."

"Hints of fresh hay meet candied cherries on the nose of the 2018 Waterfall Block Waterfall Gully Road Burnside Shiraz, a new entrant in the Two Hands “Block” collection. With its juxtaposition of slight greenness and bright fruit, it reminds me of some Central Coast/Paso Robles (California) Syrahs, without the massive alcohols that those sometimes carry (this clocks in at 13.9% alcohol on the label). It’s medium to full-bodied on the palate, with some firm but ripe tannins supporting red berries and a slight dustiness on the finish. It should drink well for at least a decade."

Tasting Notes
Waterfall Block is the newest addition to the Single Vineyard stable, and a very unique and interesting vineyard, close to the Adelaide CBD.
Waterfall Block is complexing steep site that needs to be seen to be believed: It has many short steep rows that are protected from the early morning light from the highest point of the Mount Lofty Ranges behind and again by the searing late day sun from a steep hillside to the north. This is an amazing micro climate that allows the low-yielding vines to ripen at their leisure with a canopy that keeps moving along with minimal stress.
